Exporting Your Groove IMs

Groove Message Export tool allows you to export your IM messages in variety of ways. 

To export your messages, first make sure you have added the tool in any of the spaces. Open the tool and click on Export Messages button. The Export Wizard will popup and will guide you through the process.

Click next to go to the next step which allows you to select the way to export your messages:

Following options are available:

1. Export messages in separate Word files
2. Export messages in single Word file
3. Export messages in Excel file
4. Export messages in Microsoft Outlook
5. Export messages in XML

Click on above links to learn more about any of these options.

In general, we recommend that you select Single Word file option to export your messages. You can use other methods to satisfy your special needs.

1. Export messages in separate Word files: 

This allows you export each of your Groove IM message as one RTF (RichText) file which you can view in Microsoft Word or Wordpad. If you have only few messages to export, this is useful option. However if you have hundreds or thousands of IMs to export, we recommend options.

 

The name of the each file is generated from the content of the IM message in following way:

DateTime-MessageText-Sender-Count.rtf
